Foot Problems Diagnosis & Tests
Your podiatrist or other trained healthcare professional will evaluate your feet based on:
- your medical history, including your family history for foot problems, arthritis, diabetes, or other related conditions
- information about your foot problem, such as severity, when it began, how long it has lasted
- your lifestyle and physical activities
- a review of your medications
- a physical exam (blood circulation, skin condition, nerve function, bone structure)
- your ability to stand, walk and balance
- x-rays, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or computed tomography (CT) scans if necessary
- Doppler test (to check blood flow)
- Tuning fork test to check for nerve sensitivity.
